Congratulations on your admission to Cornell Engineering! You are about to embark on an incredible journey. We have a truly caring and supportive community in the College of Engineering. I’d like to tell you a little bit about the Engineering Advising Office and how we play a key role in supporting our students.

The first year of college will be an exciting time of social and academic adjustment. You’ll develop new friendships, explore extracurricular interests, and begin to map your pathway to an engineering degree. For many of you, this will be the first time you are living away from home. While there are experiences common to all our students, each of your paths has unique elements that require reflection, planning, support, and counsel.

This is where the Engineering Advising Office comes in. Our staff provide solid advice on nearly every aspect of life as a Cornell Engineer. Located on the Engineering Quad, our office is a welcoming space where you can come with any question or concern. We assist first-year students with a full range of matters including course selection, AP and transfer credit, affiliating with a major, studying abroad, and planning for careers in medicine and health. Our students take the initiative to reach out when they need help and guidance. In turn, we provide the support, information, and resources our students need to make the most of their Cornell experience.

Whatever your path and goals, you will not be alone on this journey. We are here to help! We will begin communicating with enrolling first-year engineers the first week in May, which is just a few short weeks away. My staff and I, as well as colleagues from across the College of Engineering, look forward to welcoming you to our community!
