“Design, Build, Fly is one of the 36 project teams available for students to be a part of. All project teams are completely student-run and have a faculty advisor overseeing and guiding them. You can be a part of a project team within your first semester if you choose! You can take the project team for credit as well so it can even count towards your graduation requirements.
Though I take it for credit, it is nothing like a normal class. On DBF, you work hands-on immediately and learn the process of designing and manufacturing within 1 year. For me, DBF isn’t just a course or extracurricular, it is also a community. We hang out, study, and work together outside the lab.
This is just one of the many ways to learn hands-on engineering outside the classroom. Make sure to take advantage of as many opportunities as you can, this can include research, organizations, clubs, and volunteering!”
