Meet Md
Major: Biological Engineering
Hometown: Bronx, NY
Why did you choose Cornell and/or Cornell Engineering?
I knew I wanted to do Biological Engineering ever since I discovered the field of biotechnology, and the incredible research into synthetic biology, biotech, and environmental sustainability here at Cornell is really what made my choice so much easier. The opportunities for engineering at Cornell are endless and the curriculum and faculty are great for immersing yourself in the field of engineering.
What is your favorite thing about Cornell and/or Cornell Engineering?
For me, it is definitely about the community and collaborative environment that Cornell Engineering provides. Before I got here, I was worried it would be competitive and cutthroat, but I realize now that the focus is working together to solve problems, and engineering truly can’t be done alone. I have met so many great friends in Engineering, and it seems that people are always open to helping you when you have trouble.
How did you get involved outside the classroom?
I am working on doing biotech research outside of the classroom as well as being part of student organizations and professional programs such as the Biological and Environmental Engineering Society (BEE), the CSTEP P3 program, and the OADI Research Scholars Program.
